In September the whole team had an away day. All of the trustees, staff, sessional workers some volunteers came together to talk about the future of organicARTS. We also covered topics such as the climate crisis, the structure of our organization, why we exist and who for, and our opportunities and challenges. It was a very unifying day that bought many good things we do to everyone’s attention, it also highlighted things missing that we are putting a plan together to work on.

It was a great day for the extended team to spend some time together, we all bought along food and shared in a beautiful lunch. Chatting was done and plans were formed!

The immediate outcomes were, as an organization we realised we weren’t focusing enough on the climate crisis, and the platform we have to combat this in any way we can. At the trustee meeting a few days later the trustees and organicARTS formally recognized the climate crisis. All staff were asked to consider taking practical actions that could be to both adapt to climate change and to mitigate climate change.

From this valuable away day we are working towards an even stronger organization so that we can continue to offer what we do, and even expand as we have more creative projects on the horizon.
