Important information for past and present users of our Pottery Workshop space

IMPORTANT NEWS for past and present users who still have crafts, equipment or materials in the pottery space.

Lucy Rockliffe our current potter will be stepping back and just running specialist workshops in the future. However Peter Jeffs has volunteered to fill the gap she leaves. Some of you may have met Peter who volunteers with us, makes and sells his own ceramics from home, and has run a few clay workshops in the past. We are taking this opportunity to review how we run the pottery workspace, which of course also gets used for other ‘messy crafts’. We hope to make some improvements and rationalise what we do, offering a more ecological option.

As the first stage in these changes we need to clear away items which are no longer wanted. Some past users and workshop providers have left work, equipment, and materials, in some cases intending to come back to them, and in other cases giving up on them. Unfortunately we cannot now tell which. Immediately after Christmas we will be disposing of, or finding reuse for, abandoned and unwanted materials, equipment, and work. If you have anything still at the pottery that you would like to keep please come and collect it by Christmas.

As our range of crafts expands we will have less storage space in the future so we are afraid the scope for continuing to store your work, equipment and materials will be very limited unless you are a current active user, or you now make special arrangements with us. Any materials, work or equipment we store for the future must be labelled with the owner’s name please, so please come in and do this by Christmas. Any materials not in their original containers must be marked as to what they are, and any safety hazards.

We look forward to telling you more about our pottery plans in the New Year, and the opportunities we will offer for our crafts
