On Sunday 20th West Town Farm, along with the Outdoors Group and OrganicARTS, hosted Apple and Pumpkin day.
Our team and volunteers worked hard in the weeks before and on the day to get things ready for one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.

Our community garden volunteers laid chippings to make sure our visitors could walk on the wet ground in the garden. They also collected apples from the orchard to be used in the apple pressing.
Andrew, our garden coordinator, Peter one of our Trustees, and two volunteers manned the apple pressing station. Visitors got involved by helping to wash the apples and putting them into the scratter (a machine used to smash up the apples into a pulp.) Our volunteers then put the pulp into a press and turned the press to squeeze out the apple juice!

In the garden Kevin and Jo had a lovely fire going, where they told stories. There was also an apple people/animal making station where visitors got creative with natural materials and apples!

The new social creative group at organicARTS, ‘The Makers’ had their own stall where they were selling for the first time. They had a selection of handmade mug mats and hand printed bags. All the money they raised by selling will go toward more materials so they can keep making.

A very busy cafe team did amazingly well with the high number of visitors. The cafe raised just over £1000 which goes a long way in helping us continue all the work we do here.
Big thank you to all volunteers who helped on the day and an even bigger thank you to those who attended the day, we hope you had as lovely a time as we did. See you next year!
