Fresh buds (and hopefully roots to match) are appearing on the first block of willow to be planted in Organic Arts developing willow and fibre garden. Deggie Belton, together with regular Organic Arts volunteers and students from Exeter university, has planted more than a dozen different willow cultivars. Varieties already planted include members of the alba, triandra, viminales and purpurea families of willow as well as some hybrids between these which should a good range of colours and sizes for future basketry and living willow work.
