Andrew oversaw and shaped the garden project over 14 years, using his gardening knowledge but more importantly his wonderful people skills to create a welcoming, non-judgemental space where everyone was valued and listened to, and there was always time for a chat and a laugh together. In honour of this, we now have a hand-made wooden bench in front of a newly planted plum tree overlooking the main garden plot – we can picture Andrew sat there looking over us with his comforting presence and twinkly eyes. His wife Wendy shared that he was so quietly proud of what had developed over the years and the relationships he had made with everyone. It wasn’t work for him; it was his second family.

Thank you Andrew, for helping to create a special place that will continue to benefit many more people in your memory.

With thanks to Mike Gardner for donating the bench and Peter Grainger for donating the plum tree, and to Andrew’s family and friends for their very kind and generous donation to our garden project.

We have been remembering our much loved and missed garden co-ordinator Andrew Sanders, who sadly passed away this year from cancer.
