The fruit cage has provided a bumper harvest of gooseberries and currants along with raspberries and tayberries. We are thinking about what other fruit to cultivate within the space we have.<\/p>\n<p>The veg garden has also given us more than enough food for our needs and we are looking at ways to preserve the last of the excess \u00a0crops, beautiful red chillies strung up to dry in the polytunnel and hessian sacks full of beans lifted above the reaches of the mice. We are in the midst of extending the veg garden and will be looking at eventually creating a space for no dig production and looking into more perennial crops if anyone is interested or has any practical advice? Our foraging trips have been less fruitful with the birds and squirrels getting the major share of the hazel nuts before us, the feral plums ripened much earlier than last year and were finished by the time we were able to go plum hunting.
