SUMMARY:Upcycled Art Journals with Megan Dowsett
DESCRIPTION:Transform your (or your children’s) unwanted artwork into highly personal notebooks that both celebrate and re-use your creative output. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBring a whole bunch (as much as you can carry!) of abandoned drawing\, writing and scribbling – the good\, the bad\, the ugly – all of it! Using a decorative and unusual technique to cover and bind\, we’ll re-shape\, re-purpose and re-imagine it into a lovely notebook that serves as a memoir and a celebration of our most creative moments. \n\n\n\nA visual artist based in Exeter\, Megan works with a variety of media\, exploring connection with people\, place and nature. Her work often takes the form of a book – sometimes in quite a traditional format and at other times\, something more experimental and ephemeral – and she re-uses all her own and her children’s old art to make unique notebooks for every purpose. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is suitable for adults and young people aged 14+. The morning will include a pause for a short walk in the beautiful surroundings of organicARTS (fingers crossed for the weather!) – please wear suitable footwear and feel free to bring a snack. \n\n\n\nPlease let us know your access requirements when you book your ticket. SUMMARY:Wild Type and Stitch Creative Evening
DESCRIPTION:Join Just Sewn Stories to explore the landscape through words and stitch\, using a typewriter and hand-cranked sewing machine or your own hand-stitch. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Just Sewn Stories for a creative evening walk\, gathering words from the land and typing them onto fabric with a mobile typewriter to develop an ephemeral\, collective poem. We’ll return to the canopy to stitch our words\, leaves and other findings into a small memento of the place and moment\, as we watch the daylight turn to dusk. \n\n\n\nJust Sewn Stories is a socially engaged textile artist and workshop facilitator\, exploring the threads of connection within communities while inspiring creativity and confidence. What a glorious season to revel in the sheer magic of nature! This workshop is one of three Creative Evening workshops which celebrate the long evenings and the beauty of the landscape under the slowly setting sun. \n\n\n\nThe workshop takes place entirely outside\, although there is cover for wet weather – please dress appropriately for the time of day and year\, including sturdy footwear!
