OrganicARTS want groups and individuals to be feel welcomed and supported when they visit the farm.

Visits can take place in different ways

Groups

Group visits from Schools, Family Centres and other organisations can either be Self Led Free Visits or Facilitated by OrganicARTS.

Self Led Free Visits

The group contacts organicARTS to discuss what they would like to do on their visit, what facilities are available and to arrange a date. What happens on their visit is the responsibility of the group. This is ideal when the group is clear about what they want to do and have the necessary skills to carry out their project.

There is no charge for Self Led visit. As part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme the Farm receives funding to support visits of an educational nature.

Facilitated by OrganicARTS

OrganicARTS have a wide experience of supporting many kinds of visit. We can also draw upon a network of skilled workshop leaders.

We will discuss with you your groups needs, provide pre-visit support and information and then lead you through your visit.

There is a charge for Facilitated Visits of between £3 and £5 per person depending on the activities chosen.

Individuals

There are may ways that individuals and families can visit the farm and engage in OrganicARTS' activities. Here are a few ideas ...

  • Visit on an Open Day - check the Diary and Press for details

  • Walk a Farm Trail - check the Information Board outside the Farm, the Diary or phone Andrew Bragg on 01392 811257

  • Volunteer - there are always lots of jobs to be done both on the farm and with OrganicARTS.

West Town Farm is part of WWOOF UK. This works in the following way with the farmer providing accommodation and food in return for work done on the farm. See www.wwoof.org.uk for more details on how WWOOFING works.

Updates

We now have a permanent trail for visitors; it takes in the community garden, pigs, railway cutting, fields, orchard, farmyard, tree henge and woodland. It can be split into two halves to accommodate different length visits. This can be used for self-guided educational visits which are free. If you have group of more than six who would like to do this trail please let us know. Plans are afoot to create activity boxes which can be dotted around the trail and can be used at a minimal cost to cover materials.

The minibus has proved a lifeline for transporting our volunteers out to the farm and has also been used by schools, nurseries and the Refugee Support Group for their visits to the farm. We charge a very reasonable rate for the hire of the minibus! A big thank you to University of Exeter Guild of Students RAG for the donation of this vehicle.
