Reed Bed

A reed bed in containers  acts as a purifier to clean water from your bath, shower or sink. At West Town the farm yard system takes water from the sink, seperates out the solids, filters the water through two reed and rush filled tanks before it arrives in the car tyre pond!

The system was created during a day workshop led by Viv Goodings.

Most of the materials have been recycled from a variety of sources. 



The pond is an old tractor tyre, padded with straw and old carpet, lined with a pond liner off cut and surrounded by dry stoned walling created from volcanic rock from the farm's quarry!
