Woodland Shelters and Coppice Crafts

Come and help us to start revealing the secret of Ide. A piece of
woodland at West Town farm has remained untouched for 30 years, we hope
to bring it alive with your help and create a community wood in the
future. We’ll be walking in the wood, learning how to
coppice, some woodland management and rural skills, making woodland
shelters, learning some tree and flower ID, clearing dead wood and
making habitat piles for the small creatures of the wood.
Including warm fireside tea breaks and lunch.
Please bring pruning saws, gardening gloves, bow saws, loppers or
secateurs if you have them, as these will be really useful.
Bring lunch and suitable outdoor gear. A short walk but some slippery
surfaces.

This month come and help regenerate a delightful orchard in a secret
rural corner
of Exeter, yet only 10 minutes from the city centre. The day will
include learning how to protect each tree as well. The day will be led
the farmer Andrew Bragg.
Please bring warm and waterproof clothing and lunch.
There is no cost for this day but places are restricted, so please ring
in advance (before 4th Feb) for bookings. This event is open to
non-friends but with a priority for Friends.

we’ll be supplying some tools and ladders, but please bring
secateurs and loppers if you have them. Information sheets will be
supplied to each participant. Mole is also prepared to be quizzed on
information about most horticultural/landscape subjects, so come with
your questions at the ready!

Learn how to create a useful and beautiful piece of
furniture from the hedgerows. We’ll show you how select
suitable materials and construct a chair from Hazel, to take home as a
finished article at the end of the day.

not have any.

Medicinal Herbs with Anne Stobart MNIMH

Join us for an afternoon session to learn about using
herbs for health and beauty. You will learn about some useful and
medicinal herbs on a walk around the farm, and see how to make some
herbal preparations including a herbal infusion, an infused oil, an
ointment and a tincture. Anne is an experienced herbal practitioner,
she teaches herbal medicine at Middlesex University, and has a practice
in Crediton, Devon.
Proceeds donated towards the Education Fund of the National Institute
of Medical Herbalists.
Boots and outdoor clothing are advised for the walk.

Eco Grafitti!

The workshop will be run by 2 well respected
proffesional graffiti artists from the doodle dubz collective,with
experience in all aspects of graffiti and street art and who have been
running workshops succesfully in schools and youthclubs and festivals
for more than the last 5 years.
Over time they have adapted and modified many techniques to make them
as environmentally friendly as possible whilst still retaining the
quality of artwork desired.
It's for 10-16 year olds.
Throughout the day they will lern stencil, sticker, flypost, letter
design, and painting techniques, culminating with creating a finished
production (graffiti mural)at the end of the day.

INTRODUCTION TO PERMACULTURE COURSE
Dea Annison is running this course for our Community
Permaculture Garden. She is not asking for a fee but there will be a
pot for donations according to your ability to pay. Please bring
waterproofs, (as there is a practical aspect to the course) we have
wellies available to borrow. Also bring lunch to share (coffee
& tea available) and something from the land or garden which is
special to you. The course will cover the basic principles of
permaculture and a mini-design exercise as well as practical activities
and other things.

Puddling Days
You are invited to participate in the creation of a
permanent sited art
work at West town Farm. It will involve puddling (clay lining) the moat
which surrounds the Tree Henge, a piece by Beth Richards. This will
involve lots of clay and mud so come prepared with suitable attire!
Due to intense rain
and recent construction of the
henge by the digger, the land around the site is highly water logged.
The Puddling Day on the 12th November will have to be cancelled. It is
of foremost importance that the land has time to recover and rebalance.
